What Causes Severe Swelling In The Lower Legs?

Hi, Im a 63 yr old LADY who is VERY ACTIVE for the MOST PART,I RIDE HORSE'S almost DAILY I have TWO?Within the last FEW MONTH'S OFF/ON my LOWER LEG'S SWELL ABOVE MY SOCK AND LOW ANKLET BOOT'S ARIAT'S. Lately I noticed yesterday the 8th.of Feb.,I had NEW SOCK'S on and KEPT UP,than when I FOLDED THEM DOWN,MY LEG'S were EXTREMELY SWOLLEN? So,What Do YOU THINK? MyB/P is GOOD? My name is Paula YYYY@YYYY I THOUGHT THIS WAS FREE??? CAN HELP ME!

The swelling could be due to circulation disturbances, and socks could be the reason so first of all avoid wearing the socks, keep the leg in elevated position, in second thought the swelling could be due to renal pathology, endocrine dysfunction like thyroid disease, anemia all these needs to be differentiated, condition really demands the medical attention.
