Why Have I Had Slight Noticeable Pain While Urinating For Over A Week And Lower Back Pain?

Hi. I have had a slight noticeable pain while urinating for about 6 days now. I was just woken up by a pain across my lower back but not in the spine. The past day or so I ve had urinate very frequently. I m wondering if it can be all tied together. The pain in my back woke me up out of a dead sleep.

Hello,

Your lower back pain and painful urination and increased frequency are seen in the following:
1) Urinary tract infections
2) Renal stones
3) Bladder stones

Urinary stones also cause pain in the loin area that moves to groin. You need to undergo:
1) Complete urine examination
2) Ultrasound imaging
3) Kidney function tests
4) CT scan if necessary

Please do consult a urologist for thorough clinical examination and specific diagnosis that helps in appropriate treatment. Until then then can use Urispas 200mg twice daily and Norflox 400 mg twice daily for 3 days.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,

Hi,

Yes, this can easily be tied together. The symptoms you are describing could easily fit a urinary infection and - quite possibly - a beginning kidney infection. This is easily treatable, but I strongly advice you to contact your Doctor as soon as possible in order to get a urine test done.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Maria Riechel-Sarup, General & Family Physician
