Can Recurrent UTI After Flu Symptoms Be Cured Long After A Hysterectomy?

Hi, I am a 69 years old woman who had a histerectomy 18 years ago. Since I had the histerectmy I had frequently 3 -4 times a year urinary infections especially after getting sick with fou or colds. Lately I got another urinary infection after taking antibiotics for sinus infection. I got Proteus mirabilis. Can it be cured? I never got this type of infection. Please help.

Hi,

Yes, if it was a proven infection and the culture grew proteus, then I'm sure they must have given you a sensitivity pattern as well.
So what you have to do now is:
1. Proper hygiene
2. Start the antibiotics that is shown most sensitive on your culture report
3. Drink plenty of water
4. You can take tab nitrofurantoin 1 dose before bedtime
5. Syp. Cital 5ml after putting in water can be taken at bedtime
So, if you do this then it might get better soon. Recurrent UTI should get further investigation done to rule out any other abnormalities.
