What Causes Recurring Infections And Itchy Rashes In An Elderly Person Suffering With Autoimmune Disease?

Hello my name is XXXX. Im trying to get in contact with any doctor that may know how to help my grandmother, she has an auto immune disease that none of the doctors that she goes to knows how to treat. She is loosing her hearing at an alarming rate, she has fibromyalgia, has had part of her thyroid removed and has recently been getting the strangest infections, one in her salivary glands, one in her eye, and several in her head. My grandmother also wakes up with small rashes that swell and itch but only last a couple minutes and then disappear. It seems like she keeps getting all the rare medical issues that non of the doctors in our area know how to deal with. I understand that this may not be the right platform. All I m asking for is for whomever ever reads this to help me in some way. Im desperate, please help, watching her struggle with all her problems is tearing the hearts out of our family especially my grandfather and id really like to not lose either of them because I know he will die of heartbreak if anything happens to her I mean she s only in her 60 s for crying out loud. So please if anyone could email me back with any resources or information on how I could get in contact with a community of doctors that would be great.

Hello,

As a first line management, you can apply low potency steroid creams like Betamethasone for symptomatic relief. If the lesion persists, it is better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
