How Can Severely Chapped Lips And Redness Around The Mouth Be Treated?

Hello I have severely dry chapped lips and rough red skin around my mouth and chin. It itches and burns terribly. I have tried many different lip balms, moisturizers, vaseline petroleum jelly, lotions all to no avail. I am very uncomfortable. What can I do?

Hi,

This condition is called as ANGULAR CHELITIS and stomatitis. It is due to B Complex and folate deficiency. Investigate Complete Blood picture and blood sugar levels.

In severe anemic conditions, severe CHELITIS is the main problem. So elicit the cause and treat accordingly. Consult your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Puvvula Kishore Kumar, Dermatologist
