Heavy Chest, Cough And Greenish Phlegm. Viral Infection?

For a week or so now I've had a cough but no other symptoms, my chest feels heavy and sore like I've inhaled fluid that I can't cough up. I've occasionally managed to cough up some phlegm which is a green colour. I am asthmatic and use a preventative inhaler daily. Some days the cough seems better and then like today it feels worse again. Do I need to go to the doctors or is it just viral?

Hi. You may be coming down with a mild form asthma exacerbation. Do you monitor peak flow. If yes, you can have an idea how bad it is by comparing your best from previous good days. If you use preventer, you might have to increase the dose and frequency. With green sputum, best would be to have 5-7 days of an antibiotic, 3 days of oral steroids with your inhaler. Using inhaler with a spacer or nebuliser might be more effective.if things do not improve in a day or two, I would recommend visit your doctor. Hope this help.
