Heaviness, Pain Between Hip Bone, Rib Cage. Flatulence, Less Energy, Bowel Movement Not Consistent. Remedy?

I ve been experiencing this heavy feeling in my right side, between hip bone and rib cage. It seems to get worse at night. I also experience stinging pain occasionally during the night. I have very bad smelling flatulence which seems to flare up at night time and would say it s related to this heavy feeling in my right side as that is when the flatuence is worst, when pain/heavy feeling in side is occuring. My energy level isn t what it used to be. This problem has been on going for over a year now. My bowel movements aren t consistent day to day. I noticed small peanut shaped things in my stool and even small holes along the stool.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Flatulence along with pain on right side between hip bone and rib cage is indicative of a problem with the right or ascending colon and can be due to the following reasons:
Tuberculosis of colon.
Amoebic colitis.
Can be cancer too.
Hence it is very important to undergo the following:
Stool tests for 3 days. This helps to identify the cause in some cases and if found can be treated well.
Tests of blood for CBC, Tumor markers and as required on clinical evaluation.
Colonoscopy.
CT scan of abdomen.
Opinion of an Gastroenterologist.
All these will lead to an exact diagnosis so that a proper management can be done well to get a possible cure.
Once treated well all other problems like less energy will automatically get cured.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
