I have been waking up with spots of blood on my pillow. My wife says I often cough and stop breathing and wake up gasping like I ve been under water for a few minutes. I wake up with headaches and my teeth and jaw are sore. I m about 6 foot, 175 lbs, and have had to ER visits over the last 5 years with a diagnosis of pleurisy . I ve seen doctors, dentists, and sleep specialists, but I haven t had any relief.

Thanks for posting query to HCM.
Cough at night with breathlessness may be due to both respiratory as well as cardiac disease. you have got normal weight with a body mass index of 23.7 kg/m2 .
What I feel is you must get your cardiac status tested with a cardiologist and along with you need to do a simple breathing test called spirometry to rule out any obstructive airway disease.

Best wishes
