Headache on taking head bath, pressure in the eyes, runny nose. Cure?

Hi doctor, when ever i take a head bath i get head aches. My eyes feel pressure and bulge out a little bit. My nose starts running and gets blocked. Also I feel water seeping through my mouth. It is highly uncomfortable. It was very severe when i was a child and I always visited a doctor and he used to give medicines for cold . Once I became an adult I realized that when i reduced the frequency of head baths the symptoms disappeared. Since then i take head baths very rarely, even though i wash my body daily. Even though i do head bath rarely now a days, every single time i do head bath these symptoms appear again. I have not seen a doctor regarding this as I feel embarassed about it.

hello and welcome to HCM,

I must complement you, since you have very cleverly found out the relation of head bath and your symptoms and you are right in assuming that these symptoms increase when you take bath.

You obviously cannot avoid head bath for the rest of your life so lets see what we can do for your sinus and nose problems:

1. Meet and ENT consultant and get an endoscopy done of the nose to find out the state of the nasal septum and the sinuses
2. Get a CT scan of the nose and sinuses to further evaluate the state of the septum and sinuses.
3. Start an antihistamine medication and take that especially when you are planning to take head bath
4. Take steam inhalation regularly and avoid exposure to dust

take care and get well soon
