Headache, Ear Pain, Jaw Pain, No Appetite, Fever, Joint Pain, Fever. Prescribed Paracetamol. Other Medicine?

Hi my dr has diagnosed me with a flu virus and throat ulcer. I've been in bed for 6 days my symptons are bad head ache, ear ache, bad jaw ache, I feel sick, no appetite, fever, joint pain, temp etc. he advised i take paracetamol. I am taking the maximum dose and have been for 6 days now and it is not helping at all is there something else I can take. The dr does not think so. Thank you

Hi,
Flu can last more than a week and the treatment is to alleviate the symptoms. As it is a virus, antibiotics will have no effect. I would suggest taking ibuprofen which may help your joint pains and fever as it is an anti-inflammatory. Drink plenty of fluid. Try to eat a small amount but if you cannot manage it won't be a problem. Rest as much as possible. You should start to feel better in a day or two.
