Headache After Childbirth. Taking Methyldopa, Labetolol, Magnesium. High Blood Pressure. Any Suggestions?

I am a 31 year old female who just had her third baby a little over 3 weeks ago. I weighed 155 pre pregnancy and am now down to 162. I am 5 6 and am nursing my baby exclusively. I have never had any problems with my blood pressure except when I was pregnant with my first child it was on the high end during pregnancy but went back to normal as soon as she was born. I had normal blood pressure with this pregnancy and even in the hospital following his delivery and I stayed over 48 hours because of testing positive for group b strep before delivering. Once I returned home I started having a headache. I attributed this to a hormone headache and waited for it to go away but it didn t. After a week of a headache. I called my ob and he told me to get my blood pressure checked. It was 215/148 at a Pharmacy and 186/118 at an urgent care that night. I saw my Dr. In the morning and had a bp of 150/100 and he put me on 500 mg Methlydopa twice a day and to come back in two weeks. I came back a little over 1 week after experiencing horrible headaches. My blood pressure was 148/100 that morning in his office. He put me on double the dosage of Methlydopa and added 2 pills 2 times a day of Labetolol as well as 500 mg of Magnesium 3 times a day. I have been doing this for 2 days now and I have not seen a significant drop in blood pressure. It is still high. They have tested me for post eclampsia, but all my tests came out perfect. I was tested for red and white cell count and thyroid function and they call came out clean as well. Any suggestions?

Hi, welcome to Health care magic forum.
You have tendency for rise of the blood pressure during or after the pregnancy. And you have the readings as well. Some antihypertensive drugs also can cause head ache.
I advise you to consult a neurologist for diagnosis and treatment.
I prescribe to my patient with such symptoms an anti hypertensive, a diuretic, and nonsedating pain killer.I also advise you to avoid salt for quite some time.
Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
