Having Swelling In The Thumb. Suggest

I recently was in a motorcycle accident and broke the IP joint on my thumb...
the thumb has been healing well and the bruising is gone and range of motion is at 80%
However swelling has now started to occur in the MP joint below rather badly nearly twice the size as the other side
I did accidentally whack it off something the other day... but it didnt seem to be anything that would cause this

Do you think its related and what steps should i take other than icing it (as i have been)?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
hello dear friend ,thanks for writing to HCM
i have studied your case

You should again do Xray hand and wrist joint

For hair line refracture slab[splint ] for 3 weeks is required, in blunt injury without fracture rest and crepe bandage application will be useful

Take chymoral forte and calcium with vit D will reduce swelling and pain

Avoid activity ,give rest to hand

For further query contact on my profile directly
