Having Partial Colonoscopy. Is This Procedure Painful?

I am having a partial colonoscopy on Thursday and cannot help feeling very anxious as reading several comments on different sights have frightened me. I guess what I really want to know is if this procedure is painful or not and can I request the procedure to stop if I am too uncomfortable with it?
