YOu should treat diabetes , blood pressure and infection if occurs.Diuretic wont help if the cause os wellings is varicouse veins. infections are more common in diabetic and in venous insufficiency. You should do doppler ultarsounds to see the degree of venous stasis. If elastic socks and conservative treatment isnt enough you should consider surgical proceddure called saphenal stripping. till taht you should avoid long standing, kepp your legs elevated while laying.
