Having Pain On Ribs. What Medicine Should I Take?

I m 14, and am having bad pain in one of my ribs. I can t recall receiving a direct blow to my ribs, but my gym class is very rough. To be completely honest I almost threw up because of it. But besides that, could too much rapid movement of the torso cause a rib injury? They make us sprint, and that s the only thing i could think of, as my gym class was yesterday, 12/7/12.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The pain in the ribs is likely to be due to a muscular injury,. A bone injury is not likely. You can start with a mild pain killer and hot fomentation along with adequate rest for relief. Usually the pain subsides in 5-7 days.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
