January 2014 I had my gal batter removed and at the same time I also was diagnosed with pancreatitis. I was on a low fat diet for two month. I soon felt fine. Until recently 11 months after surgery. I have gained a lot of weight (15 lbs) and now I am having pains in my stomach. Like hunger pain...but occur only after I eat. the pain last for hours. .

Hi, My son is 8 and he was recently diagnosed with acute pancreatitis. Pancreas was normal in ultrasound and MRCP. His lipase levels increased to 3 times the normal range. His pain subsides on IV fluids for a day. He has been on TPN for the past week. No pain and could tolerate liquids. He tried simple solids for a day and tolerated. The next morning he had 2 slices of gluten free toast with no butter and got backache 30 min after he ate. He has been hospitalized twice in the last 2 weeks for the same episode. His pain is triggering with food even after resting his stomach for a week. The GI specialist couldn t find any source other than an elevated igG4 of 197. He is being treated with 40mg of Prednisone for the past 3 days. Yet, he still had 2 flares of backache today that lasted for 30-45 min. This was even without eating food. Any ideas, insights would be helpful. He is a healthy child with no prior medical conditions.

Hello. My husband is in post pancreatitis stage and is home leading a normal life . The cause of this illness remains a mystery to the doctors that attended to him as he does not drink alcohol and gall stones were also ruled out. My question is, what kind of foods shld he be eating? I don t want to know about diets that help lose your belly, I want to know about nutrition. What my husband does is if he gets an ache and upset tummy, he reviews what he ate over the last few meals and assumes a certain food caused and just says he wont eat it again, and this goes on til the next tummy ache. He does still take creon and he is not a diabetic at this stage based on tests that have been done. We are based in Cairns Aussie. Any advice or education on these issues wld be most appreciated.
