Having light brown skin complexion, skin darkening on moving to a hot region. How to treat sunburn?

Hi, am XXXX with a light brown skin complexion . The problem is when we moved from a cool region to a very hot region which can be classified as semi-arid, my skin complexion darkened. We have been staying here for about 2 years. Can I regain my skin complexion? How can I treat sunburns using chemicals or natural methods? Thank you!
