Having Frequent Bowel Movement. How To Cure This?

Hi, I am a female 63 years old.. I am afraid to go out to eat because I have such severe stomach problems. Sometimes it can be as much as twenty minutes or as soon as three to four minutes after I eat. I have to just about run to the restroom. I am not losing weight, even though I may go to the restroom three to eight times a day

Dear patient.
Greetings from health care magic!!! I am Dr Thakker and shall be answering your question.

I can understand the emberassment you have to go through due to high frequency of bowel movements. I will try my best to answer your question and guide you through it.

Normal bowel movements are usually from one every other day to 3 times per day. in your case this is pathological and we need to narrow down to a specific cause.

We need to consider the following possibilities:

1) Amoebiasis

2) Hyperthyroidism

3) Autonomic neuropathy with rapid bowel transit time

4) Chronic fat malabsorption from pancreatitis

5) VIPoma

We need to perform a stool routine and microscopy examination, T3,T4,TSH levels in the blood, ultrasound of the abdomen to begin with.

I hope this helps you out. If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to write back to me.

Yours sincerely,
Dr Thakker.
