Having discomfort in my eyes as a plastic object went into my eyes. Will this affect cornea ?

I was using a dremel tool yesterday, and a small bit of plastic flew right into my eye at high speed. It hurt when it happened, but I rinsed the eye out with water, and it seemed ok, just sensitive. But I just woke up in the middle of the night, and my eye is in more serious discomfort, and I am feeling nauseated. It is possible that the plastic went through the cornea?

Hi,

Welcome to HealthcareMagic Forum,
You should not neglect this, consult a good ophthalmologist for this problem. It requires a slit lamp examination to know whether the foreign body is present or not, or to check for any trauma to the cornea.

I have a rough patch on my cornea that developed over the past two months or so. It is like clear lumps on the white part under the iris. I am gradually beginning to have discomfort when wearing a contact lens on this eye. Could this be an infection or maybe irritation from the contact? I m worried that treatment may involve switching to glasses, which will be difficult for me. I am a 54- y.o. female, 5 10 and 145#. I have worn soft contacts for 35 years, even sleeping in them every night, and never had an eye issue until the optometrist said I needed to switch brands to a type that would breathe better ...to the ones that are now hurting my eyes. Please help.

age 60, every time I have body aches (this time Sciatica down one leg along with general aches all over) my eyes seems to be affected. I get a gooey discharge in which my doctor prescribed antibiotic eye drops. Another doctor once called it by another name and put storied drops and another type of drop in my eye to anesthetize it, put a patch on it and told me to keep it on for a few days. I did and it disappeared. This time along with the eye patch one the white of my eye swelled. He didn t think it was allergy related. If I could remember what he thought it was, I could inform my current doctor. Do you have any ideas?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...my friend s son has a eye infection of the cornea and the doctor is treating him with drops to reduce inflammation. He has a pressure of 21 on that affected eye and the doctor says he has coxsackie virus that causes it. That eye has a blur vision. This has been going on for 6 mths. Is that possible for him to have that virus for that long and should my friend get a second opinion.

I have had shingles in my left eye cornea, and I take two drops of a steriod product to lessen flare-ups. I played some raquetball for a couple hours, and it seemed that I had a flare - up with the shingles. My eye was a bit blurry and I took a nap - and when I woke up it was a little better. My question is: Does strenous excerise cause a flare-up with shingles?
Thanks,
Don
