Having Clear Slimy, Stringy Discharge. No Bacteria Found In Test, Very Uncomfortable And Slight Odor

I am having clear slimy, stringy discharge . Gyno appt last week for pap , and I asked to be checked for bacteria, b/c I get this alot, and as soon as sheer took a look, she said, no bacteria!? Seems to me they would have to swab for something like that...? I am very uncomfortable, no itchy, burning feelings. Just large amounts of clear slim, ugggg! Maybe a slight odor, but very faint.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If the vaginal swab testing resulted negative for bacteria, I should ask about other parameters (yeast cells, etc.).

Next, apart genital infection, I would also recommend to do an urine analysis. Urinary tract infection are often associated with vaginal infection.

Having clear slimy, stringy discharge might be also associated with :
- ovulation period
- allergic reaction to latex (when condoms are used) or other chemicals used while sexually involved
- wearing inappropriate underwear (non-cottony, tight, etc.)

I advise to keep a good vaginal hygiene and to discuss with your OG specialist about using local (vaginal) suppositories. Your partner should be also tested and treated as well.

Wish you health!
