Having Chest Spasm, Painful, Lost Weight, Soreness. Had Echocardiogram. What Does It Sound Like?

I have been having chest spasm on the upper left side. When I work out I can feel it more. At rest I am fine. I had an echocardiogram and stress test 2 month ago and the Doctor said my heart is strong. The pain shoot through and is scary to me. I have changed my diet over the last two months and have lost more than 10 pounds. There is no soreness to the touch. Any thoughts

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

A normal stress test is reassuring and practically excludes the heart...
You may need to investigate the lungs and spine – CT of the neck and upper thoracic spine / and CT chest (or MRI) are usually necessary
Unintentional weight loss is particularly ominous and dictates investigation

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck

General & Family Physician Dr. Shekhar Deo's  Response
Hi, Welcome to HCM.

Based on the information you have given it looks like you have already ruled out the possible cardiac conditions that might have caused your chest pain. I would say that since you are keeping yourself physically active it is great for your heart.

In regard to your spasm there is a fair amount of chance that one of your nerves innervating your muscle on the affected side of your chest might get stimulated during exercise (more so if you lift weights). I would recommend that you spend enough time stretching before your work out and relaxation following it. If it persists then I will advice that you see your physician, however, with the information you have provided I can see no problem with your cardiac condition.

Hope this helps.
