Having Chest Pains, History Of Heart/strokes In The Family, Heartburn Or Anything To Worry?
My 22 yr old son is having chest pains that he describes as twinges or like a nerve is being pinched. We have a history of heart/stroke disease in our family. I am trying to get him to go to the emergency room, but he declines and says it s nothing or probably heartburn. Should I be concerned? Would these signs be something much worse? Thanks, Cat
The symptoms do not suggest Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) – pain from the heart is oppressing, in central chest (and left), worse on effort, relieved by rest, may radiate to shoulders and arms, associated with sweating and so on.
However, it is better to have him investigated… EKG / ECHOcardiogram / TMT (Treadmill exercise ECG) / LABORATORY work-up – may all be done for reassurance and future reference…
Good luck Take care Wishing all well God bless
