Have Worms. Is It Risky To Take Ovex At Early Stage Pregnancy?

Hi there, I suspect I have worms from the kids at school. I am a teacher. The pharmacist has said that I cannot take ovex as it is risky in pregnancy. My husband and I are trying for a baby and I should know by next Saturday if I am pregnant or not. Is it risky to take ovex at this early stage? The pharmacist said I would need to take a tablet now and again in two weeks time. Please could you offer advice? Thanks

Hi and thanks for the query,
Worms are a common disease. Even during pregnancy, its imperative to look for worms because some of these worms could lead to anemia. The drugs generally used in the management of worms are actually not very harmful, in case of need, there should be no fear taking the drug. Mebendazole and Albendazole (where Ovex) belongs is practically very safe. Its good to take the drug if need be as prescribed by your physician.
Thanks and best regards,
Luchuo, MD.
