Have Viral Fever. Took A Blood Test And Taking Medicines As Prescribed. But The Fever Reduces And Increases. What To Do?
Hi Doctor, My mom (47) initially had fever of 102 degree celcius and we cosulted doctor,they prescribed us some antibiotics but fever didnt get reduced. We consulted doctor again and he said viral fever would get 3 days to get normal and asked us to take a fever profile test. When we took blood test everything founds to be normal but in widal test the result shows S Typhi: POSITIVE 1:40 Dilution and S Typhi: NEGATIVE 1:20 Dilution. She has been prescribed to take tablets for three days but the fever getting reduced and increasing in regular period. But doctor says it is not a big deal and can be cured. Can you suggest me anything on this please?

Hello,
Viral fever takes 3-5 days to become all right.There is no need to take any antibiotic unnecessarily.This widal test has no significance because widal test becomes positive only in second week of fever.
Wait for 4-5 days to become over and then go for investigations,if fever not all right.Till then take paracetamol as and when required.You can take paracetamol 4-6 times a day.
