Have Vascular Veins. Feet And Ankle Turns Purple. What Is Causing This?

Hi, my mom has bad vascular veins, now her feet and her ankle has turned purple and red, hard skin and she goes through a lot of pain. It hurts to put on certain shoes. And she works on her feet all day and picking up heavy boxes. And she refuses to go to the hospital, it s kind of scaring me at this point so I want to learn more about what this could be.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
From history it seems that she is having Varicose veins with marked vascular insufficiency in her legs.
There might be chance of having Deep vein thrombosis as well.
Consult Vascular surgeon and get examined.
Avoid lifting heavy weight to prevent further damage.
Ok and take care.
