Hello, Welcome to HCM, I have reviewed your history and understand your concern. Some causes for enlarged papillae are not serious like, Trauma such as biting or burning the tongue or eating foods that are too acidic, Excessive smoking. For my patient I would have suggested 1.Stopping smoking. 2.Rinsing the mouth with salt water or mouthwash (This will also help to lessen the pain). 3.Taking vitamin B12 supplements will improve the problems with mouth ulcers and also cold sores. 4.Iron supplements are also a good way to improve the enlarged papillae themselves. If you find that the pain or inflammation on the tongue lasts for more than two weeks, you should always seek advice from your doctor. This may require medical attention from your doctor, Hope you got the answer. Feel free to ask the query. Thank you.
