Have Strep Throat, Painful Ears And Throat, Ringing In Ears. On Penicillin. Did Throat Swab. Will I Be Okay?
I have been told I have strep throat and have been put on penecilin. They did a throat swab but I have yet to get a phone call 3 days later confirming its strep. My symptoms are the same, maybe worse. I have been taking the penecilin for 72 hours now and still cannot swallow without it being extremely painful. Talking even causes me pain. In the past 48 hours it now is giving sharp pains in my throat as well as my ear. Every 4 hours I take the penicillin as well as rotating between extra strength Advil/Tylenol. Something doesn't fell right. I feel like the doctors are missing something. I've had mono before, could it be that. I don't know what else to do. I've seen 3 different doctors but I'm thinking I should go to my family doctor. Once I swallow my ear gets very painful and I get a ringing in my ears and then a headache. Please help?

Do not worry, you should be alright soon. That they have taken your sample and started you on Penicillin; you need not worry now. In case you have an infection which is resistant to Penicillin you will know soon once you get the report of the swab. Then you can be given appropriate antibiotics according to the sensitivity report.
As for ear pain, it is a referred pain due to the same nerves connecting the throat and ear. Try also taking some lozenges and do throat gargling.
