Have Small Round Bruise On The Back Of Ribs. What Could It Be?

I have a small round bruise on the back of my left ribs. It s a small, round, darkish purple bruise that has been there for over a few months now consistantly. What could it be? I keep thinking it ll just go away so I forget to show my primary care doctor but I just saw it in the mirror again and am curious. I don t remember ever falling or hitting my back but even so wouldn t it have been faded by now?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

The natural course of a bruise (due to any injury) is complete resolution within 2 weeks (maximum) leaving no traces.

As you have been observing the lesion for the past few months, it could not be a bruise. It could possibly be a pathological skin lesion.

Consult a dermatologist and seek his opinion.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
