Have Severe Pain In Ear. On Corticosteroid Eardrops. Another Dr Cleaned My Ear, Now Have Brownish Blood Inside Ear. Ear Perforated?
Hello! I have suffered from SEVERE unbearable pain and fullness in my ear since 4 days. I have been taking corticosteroid eardrops whenever I feel discomfort cuz my ENT doctor told me I have an allergy. Anyhow, yesterday, I went to a different ENT doctor and he told me that I have otomycosis and that it was severe and there is an inflammation too. He started cleaning it with cotton and told me that he can't complete cuz it started bleeding because of the inflammation. He gave me antifungal drops and antibiotic ear drops and also boric acid solution and told me to return back to him after 5 days to complete the cleaning. Right now I'm afraid that he perforated my eardrum cuz whenever I put a cotton piece to cover my ear, I see brownish blood on it. could my doctor perforate my eardrum while cleaning it from otomycosis?
Perforation of the ear is a possible complication of any medical procedure that involves the insertion of an object into the ear. With the history of inflammation of the ear, as stated on examination by the doctor, it is possible , however that the blood may be related to that inflammatory process. If the area that was cleaned was inflamed bleeding would occur, the brown discharge you are seeing is old or dried blood.
If the ear drum is perforated however, it is likely to heal on its own,it does in most cases. This can take a few weeks. Perforated ear drum can be associated with temporary hearing loss, dizziness or loss of balance though some persons have minimal symptoms.
I hope this helps
