Have Ridges On Toenails, Had Fever With Parasites, Had Lyme. On Biaxine, Nurpron. Worry?
Hello, I have ridges (horizontal) on my toenails, it started with my large toe and the nail has become very thick and hard to even trim. Approximately two yrs ago I suddenly fell ill with parasites which was cured after 8 months by an ID. eventually confirmed that I had Lyme. This started approx 6 months ago. Any suggestions? Current and past Meds. ( prior to 2011) never took even an aspirin. - Methotrexate for arthritis 1 cc weekly for one year and stopped in oct 12 ( did not help) - Omeprazole 20 mg/ daily - biaxin , flagyl & amoxicillin - oral - nurpron -B12, D, adrenal supplements, digestive enzymes supplements - was/ am b12 & D deficient

Unfortunately you took many medicines and still didn't got relief.
Lyme as you wrote , I think disease has confirmed through blood sample and detection of tick.
Nothing to worry as the drug of choice is doxycyclin. But this medicines should be taken after the advise of doctor.
Most potent pain killers are available in market for arthritis so please have these but at the advice of some doctor.
Lime juice two times a day for at least 4-5 yrs is one more choice for you as this is a part of medicinal treatment because lime juice contains ascorbic acid ( VITAMIN "C").
Vitamin "C" has the capacity to dissolves urates , oxalates phytates as these things deposit in various joint in this type of disease.

Horizontal ridges on nails should be seen by a dermatologist - they may be from systemic toxicity or deficiency / or local fungus infection [vertical lines are not]
With proper diagnosis and treatment, it may take along time to disappear- new nail from the nail bed has to grow and replace it...
