Hi Doc, I have purple spots rash on my leg after a massage (no oil) - is on my inner thighs and is very very itchy and appears to be getting worse. I went to the Doctor on Friday and she said to moisturise and come back if it is still there in 3 weeks. However I didn t tell her that I had a massage (btw this was a non-sensual, non-sexual massage so I kept my underwear on) but I do think it is linked because it occurred the next morning after the massage and I don t think the masseuse washed her hands + she had long nails .. I hope you can help - much appreciated in advance Thanks, Jordan
Thank you for posting on Healthcaremagic,
After reading through your query, I feel that you might be presenting with a soft tissue or skin infection or inflammation probably due to the massage. The massage might have caused a bridge on your skin, which in turn lead to bacteria to penetrate the skin and affect it. You will need topical antibiotics to clear off the condition. It is also possible per your description that you are having subcutaneous hemorrhage (petechia) caused by the massage as this might have lead to blockage of blood capillary vessels, hence the hemorrhage. If that is the case, just allow a few days for it to clear off. Topical steroids can help in either situations. Antihistamines can also be useful in case we are dealing with an allergy.
Wish you the best and quick recovery
