Hi sir..i am 30 years old now
My dad has full beard and so does my brother ..why am i not blessed with facial hair.. its such a shame when people do not take u seriously just because you look young. I am ashamed at times when people ask that you dont have beard naa...what all can be reasons behind that .What i feel is i have masturbated a lot due to which my hormones didn"t grow .Second i started smoking when i was around 20 years old. But i have always been going out and faced no other health issues .Can i get it treated by medication or some tests. My french beard comes perfectly and some on side cheeks but i don have those macho sidelocks. Please help..

Hello and welcome to HCM,

The growth of facial hair and axillary hair during puberty is controlled by hormones. In males the hormone responsible for secondary sexual characters and facial hair growth is testosterone.
As you have mentioned that you have facial hair in the upper lip and chin area but none on the cheeks.
This suggests that there is no hormonal abnormality.
The distribution of facial hair in a particular area of the face is genetically controlled.
These characters are not necessarily inherited from parents only.
These features can be inherited from other family members like grand father, uncle, etc.

Thus, your problem is cosmetic problem and not a medical problem.

Thanks and take care
