Have Pneumonia, Fever, Chest Pain And Dizziness. On Antibiotics. How To Get Relief?

I am suffering from 9 out of the 10 symptoms of pneumonia. I have had fever since Monday, and have been on antibiotics since Wednesday, but symptoms persist. Most common are chills, fever, chest pain, shortness of breath, nausea, fatigue, even dizziness. I never had a chest x-ray and am not sure how to proceed from here. Can I wait till morning or should i proceed to the ER

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Cough , chills , fever, breathlessness , nausea, fatigue, dizziness ,chest pain , no doubt all these symptoms are an indication of pneumonia.
On the basis of symptoms you can't claim that you are having pneumonia.
Diagnosis can be confirmed by X Ray chest and physical examination by a physician.
Sputum usually contains blood in pneumonia .
During breathing patient feels pain at a particular spot ( site of consolidation as in pneumonia).
Sputum culture also find out causative organism of pneumonia.
In my opinion consult a pulmonologist and get his opinion.
Good luck. Dr. HET

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood your concerns. If you were my patient I will suggest chest xray and also hospital admission as your symptoms persists even after antibiotic treatment. I will prefer parenteral antibiotic therapy at present rather than oral. You can wait till morning and consult your doctor. For now take dolo650mg. Thank you.
