Have Painful Stump Neuromas. Had Bi-lateral Neuroma Surgeries Done. Advice?

Hello Doctor. I ve experienced two Bi-Lateral neuroma surgeries in the past year and a half and lost both of the battles. No doubt it has developed into stump neuromas. The pain is aweful, in which I am on my feet all day. The time has come to get a third doctor. The question is which type of doctor do I see.....please help! Thank you; Randy E. Scheuch

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM>

It is not known completely till date why some people with neuromas are completely asymptomatic while a few exhibit disabling symptoms.

PREVENTION of neuromas is always advisable than treating them ( by following precise surgical principles while amputating).

Treatment of stump neuromas is by following means -
* Surgical excision of neuroma and silicone capping offers best chance for eradication.
* Sympathetic blockade is said to be beneficial in few patients

You need to consult either a NEUROPHYSICIAN or INTERVENTIONAL PAIN SPECIALIST for proper management.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
