Have Pain, Tear And Redness In Eye. No Medication Till Now. What To Do?

My left eye has been VERY red, painful like there is something in it constantly (but there is nothing in there, I checked!, other than I noticed a white dot little shape in the white part of the eye, just next to the iris -I am not sure what that part of the eye is called) and so my left eye is constantly crying on its own, especially when I stare at something (pretty much anything really) on a screen or something bright... It started a couple days ago and it is really preventing me from doing my regular daily routine b/c it's so painful! ANy idea what I should do about it, other than going to the doctor? no health insurance!

Hello , Thanks for posting your query , Just as the causes of eye pain vary widely, so do the treatments. Treatments are tailored to the specific cause of eye pain:

Conjunctivitis. Antibacterial eye drops can cure bacterial conjunctivitis. Antihistamines -- in the form of eye drops, or a pill or syrup -- can often improve allergic conjunctivitis.
Corneal abrasions. These heal on their own with time but often are treated with antibiotic ointments and close monitoring.
Glaucoma. Eye pain is treated urgently with eye drops and occasionally with pills to reduce eye pressure. If these don't work, surgery may be needed.
Infections of the cornea (called keratitis). These may require antiviral or antibacterial eye drops.
Iritis. May be treated with steroid, antibiotic, or antiviral eye drops.
Optic neuritis. May be treated with intravenous corticosteroids.
Styes. Are usually cured by applying regular warm compresses at home for a few days. Regards, Dr.Sharmila
