Have Pain In The Head After Traumatic Brain Injury

I had a head injury resulting in a traumatic brain injury & brain damage in 1981. Now since 2007 I can barely leave home and have to take Depakote for head pain. My ears won t stop ringing, I m sensitive to light & audio stimulation and I have non-epileptic convulsions. Will life ever get better again. I m always alone, I have difficulty being in crowds much less leaving the house. I just want to be able to live again. It hurts and I m struggling mentally & emotionally. Nobody understands, or their too busy to really care. It s my problem, I am so ready to just give up.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

Headache can also occur due to several other reasons. Treatment of headache depend on its cause. There is need to rule out following causes of headache in your case:
Stress and Anxiety disorder
• Migraine
• High blood pressure: BP increases during exercise.
• Infection of teeth/ear/nasal cavity
• Head injury

Your head injury was long time back. Same time you mentioned discomfort in crowd (can occur in social anxiety) and emotional issues. As stress and anxiety can also lead to headache then it is better to meet psychiatrist and general physician concurrently to rule out above causes and start treatment accordingly.

Wish you good health and all the best.
