Have Optic Neuritis, Limited Vision In Eye. Treatment?

Hello , my name is John B and I have limited vision in my left eye, It was diagnosed 10 years ago by a Dr. Simmon Laselle from Mass General as optic neuritis ( demyelination of optic nerve) at the time he claimed short of autopsy nothing can be done. He thought at time could be precursor to MS but have had no other symptoms since. My questions are as follows
A) have you heard of this diagnosis before?
B) any technological breakthrough in past 10+ years that could potentially help
C) I've heard great things about colleague Dr Carlos David, might he be the one to broach about my condition.

Would gladly submit more info if any inclination to proceed. I thank you in advance for any lead, suggestion or recommendation you can make.

Dear Mr. John B
i am sorry to know about your condition.
Unfortunately over the last last decade there hasn't been any breakthrough in the management of old optic neuritis. As you are likely aware, the damage to the nerve is permanent and it is impossible to return the vision. Whatever improvement happens is the course of the nature of the disease and it usually happens in the first year or so.
There are treatment options in alternative medical therapies like Ayurveda and Homeopathy but not "scientifically" proven.
