Have Low Blood Pressure, Dizziness And Blurry Vision. Is It Due To Blood Sugar?

im 18 year old female 5'0 and 127 pounds. i typically have low blood pressure. i eat pretty healthy and exercise regularly. when standing up from laying or sitting down for a little while i get dizzy and my vision is blurred to the point where im blinded for a little and have to hold onto something. could this be from having low blood pressure? or possibly blood sugar? is there any way to stop this from happening?

Dear patient,

Thanks for your health concerns. Your symptoms are very suggestive of orthostatic hypotension; a phenomenon in which the irrigation to the brain decreases when you do position changes in your body that make blood pool to your legs by gravity, particularly when standing up from a laying position. The most important issue is to do those position changes in a careful way to prevent injury.

1- Increase your fluid intake daily, as well as salt intake to increase your blood volume
2- use compression stockings when standing up for prolonged periods of time
3- sit down as soon as you develop such symptoms, cross your legs and press them against each other

These measures although simple usually make a big difference. Hope thats helpful, wish you the best help
