Have Itching With Discharge Near Vagina. Treatment?

A detailed query is important to get you a relevant answer from the doctor . might have my first yeast infection , is cleaning the outside of vagina with dettol ( antiseptic ), ok? The symptoms are minor, mild itching and small yellow/white discharge with white cheesy discharge. Its probably due to antibiotic i was taking for my acne . Thanks Im 29 yrs old,female, 5 7 , 137lbs, with no significant medical history.

Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
Dettol, savlon or harsh chemical soaps shouldn't be used to clean genitals as can lead to irritant reaction and also hamper the acidic PH milieu of vagina which is important in preventing infections.

To treat vaginal candidiasis
Take oral fluconazole..
Apply candid cream in affected area
Take tab cetirizine if there is too much of itching
Clean the area with warm saline water.
