hello mam,
blepharospasm is contraction of eye muscles, there are many causes- idiopathic (unknown cause), light sensitivity, dry eyes or allergy, some drugs etc
treatment- most common is
Botulinum toxin injections (Botox) have been used to induce localized, partial paralysis administered every three months, with variations based on patient response. few side effect of botox are ptosis or eyelid droop.
apart from botox some other oral drug are available to control symptoms but they are not FDA approved and have side effect.
drugs like trihexyphenidyl , clonazepam, baclofen can be given but long term studies of their effect is not available so they are not prescribed and botox remains first choice
Surgery: is last option if botox not works
Dark glasses can be worn because of sunlight sensitivity
if you are comfortable wih presernt condition then you can avoid botox as it is given to relieve symptoms.
hope i answer your query
take care and you can ask further query
