Have Inflamed And Painful Eyes. Recommendations?

My husband eye has become inflamed and painful today for no known reason. He does not believe there is anything in his eye, but says it feels as if his eyeball has been scratched. The lid and under-eye area are swollen, very red and it is extremely sensitive to light. There is no gunk etc. I applied salt water twice - are you able to assist any further? Thank you.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
It seems that your husband might have muco purulant conjunctivitis.
But if foreign body fall in eye and stuck on cornea may give rise to corneal ulcer might cause big problem.
So it is better to consult Ophthalmologist and get his eye examined and start the treatment as early as possible.
Mean while put antibiotic eye drops every one-two hourly.
Do not apply salt water.
Ok and bye.
Ok and bye.
