Have Infected Bartholin Cyst, Not Convinced With Draining Progress. Help

Hi. I got diagnosed with an infected bartholin cyst . It was at least the size of my fist. Very painful and after one week, it burst on its own. It has drained for 7days now. What concerns me is how active it seems. There seems to be some small communication from my j pouch and my drain hole in my vagina . My docter says that is not what is happening, and is happy with the progress. She said with the size of the absess.....it is wonderful it is still draining. I am not convinced. Please help.

Hai,
Welcome to HCM.
To treat a bartholin's abscess one should think of the possibility of STD, either gonorrhea or chlamydia as the etiology. That can be confirmed by speculum examination, smear examination and culture test. THE CERVIX WILL BE INFLAMED AND DISCHARGE WILL BE SEEN COMING FROM EXTERNAL OS. In Chlamydia cervix will appear as sago grain. The smear examination will confirm or rule out Gonorrhea. Culture also reveal the organism.
After treating the infection it is better to undergo an operation called as marsupilization to prevent reinfection or recurrence. Get the help from your gynecologist and get well soon. Dr SM.
