Hi. Lakshmi abirami,
Iodine deficiency is the most common cause of Hypothyroidism and it causes for unusual body weight gain or obesity.
Hormonal imbalance, hypo-thyroidism and pcos can cause irregular periods.
My doubt is , if you take any medicine for hypothyroid?
But your doubt will be cleared by way of AYURVEDA TREATMENT,
KANCHNAAR [bark] and KELP are the two herbs which contain natural iodine which even in higher quantity do not give side effects whatever body requires it keeps and the rest goes out easily.
PRAVAL BHASMA and SHANGU BHASMA in appropriate quantity.

You can reduce your weight gradually. There is no short cuts. Obesity is the reason for many diseases. You have to undergo panchakarma treatment first and then you have to follow the proper life style and eating habits. Surly you will reduce your excess weight. Never loose hopes and never quit the efforts.

welcome to HCM

Hypothyroidism has the clinical sign and symptoms of obesity because improper lipid metabolism due to hypo secretion of thyroid hormones, problem in menstruation like suppressed menstrual cycle, susceptibility to catch cold, fatigue, depression, more hair falling, sore bruised feeling of muscles etc. So the obesity or suppressed periods will not cured as long as the thyroid gland is not secreting adequate thyroid hormones. There are multiple probable cause that plays role in the background to suppress the secretion of T3 and T4 from thyroid gland. Among all the probable cause the auto immune reaction in thyroid gland is the more common cause plays the vital role to develop hypothyroidism now a days. The major trigors of auto immune reaction is the today's faulty life style, you can say pressure packed life style, staying in over physical and mental stress, faulty and adulterated nutrients, rise of pollution etc.

so a treatment regimen, not only medicines but others aspect of a healthy process like good natural nutrition, daily practice of pranayam, daily yoga, meditation( stress relaxation) and a treatment which can target to impact at the emotional, spiritual and mental aspect to make person's tolerance label strengthen to cross through those stress, pressures, ( because we can not avoid those stress, only we can make ourselves more tough to cross over the stress) can help to alter this condition. As homeopathy principle of treatment act on physical, mental and spiritual level hence helps make some one's tolerance capacity strong to cross over those including that others aspect like balance nutrition, healthy life style, and a positive attitudeness can bring a cure to this health issue.

Thank you

Ayurveda Specialist Dr. Munish Sood's  Response
1. be it any -pathy, there is no substitute of hormone, so thyroxine has to be continued.
2. Ayurveda medicine can be given along for symptoms arising from the disease, as thyroid gland is related with metabolism, thus drugs directed to increase metabolism (agni) can be given.
