Have Horrible Migraines, Gained Weight, Low Energy And Pain. Is It Due To Mirena?
I have horrible migraines and was wanting to know if it has to do with Mirena. I have been feeling horrible and gained weight , low energy and pain. had it for five years but so ready to get rid of it, what other alternative is there without these side effects
On reading your question, I can say from my clinical experince that -- people on any kind of hormonal contraceptive can have increased complaints of migraines/ simple headaches, weigh issues, lethargy...ect.. We see them in our clinic every day.
the best for such patients is that -- either they are put on some non - hormonal contraceptive options ( you have to consult with your gynaecologist as this is quite individualised method) or they are recommended to use barrier method ( e.g. condoms).
Just by stopping the mirena or other hormonal medicines there is significant improvement in the pain complaints. Hope you got your answer. if you want to go for option other than using condoms, then you have to visit the gynaecologist and see what non-hormonal contarceptive medicines are avialable in your area.
feel free to ask more questions Dr. Manisha Gopal.
