Hello,

Filarial disease of the foot(Elephantiasis) is basically Lymphadenitis of the foot.
The lymphatic channels are blocked due to inflammation. So there's no way for the lymphs to drain.
They geo accumulated in the area and cause swelling and oozing.
Life long Diethylcarbamazine should be taken.
Stocking should be worn.
Proper foot care.
Avoid the foot in dependent position for long time.
Surgical treatment has given good results.
But recurrences is a possibility without follow the above mentioned treatments.
