HELLO AND WELCOME,

As you have mentioned, you got your teeth root-canal treated and not put crown after that.

During the root canal procedure, the entire infected pulp within the tooth is removed, thereby the tooth becomes nonvital and thereby brittle.

Its better to place crown over root-canal treated teeth.
As the teeth is non-vital its ability to withstand masticatory forces is less.

Therefore chances of rc treated teeth getting fractured is very high.

I would suggest you visit dentist soon regarding this.

TAKE CARE.

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query,
there are three reasons a dentist will recommend a crown, and it actually depends on the location for cosmetic reasons (one of the reasons); to strengthen the tooth or to restore the tooth to its original shape.
After RCT tooth becomes brittle so it is necessary to have crown otherwise it will break easily
Visit the dentist as soon as possible and get the crown
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful

Hello,
I am Dr.Neha Gupta (dentist) and am glad to address to your query here.

Crowning is must
in root canal treatment the pulp is removed so teeth is brittle
brittle teeth breaks/fracture easily
crown protects the tooth from breakdown and cannot withstand masticatory forces

Take care and please keep me informed of your progress at healthcaremagic through my profile directly.

Hello there,

Thanks for writing your query.

After root canal treatment tooth become brittle ,therefore more chances of tooth fracture due to sudden/heavy forces.

So i would suggest you visit your dentist at the earliest and get a crown for this tooth.

Crowning of tooth will also give a natural look and helps in mastication and protect underlying root canal treated tooth.

Hope this information will be helpful.

Take care.

Hi there,

Thanks for writing your query,

Yes crowning after root canal procedure is mandatatory in order to maintain the effeiciancy for the tooth for longer period.

Root canal procedure devitalizes the tooth completely and makes it periodontically weak as compared to vital teeth as blood supply to the root canal treated tooth is seized.

Prosthetic corwn coverage will help the tooth to bear the mechanical forces of mastication and prevents cracking of the tooth.

esthetically also it looks good to have a crown over the treated tooth.

i hope this helps ,

take care.

hello
root canal treatment refers to removal of pulp from your tooth i.e. your tooth gets non vital and hence no pain or sensitivity
now as we know all non vital things are brittle
same goes with root canal treated tooth , gradually it becomes brittle and there are probable chances that it may get fractured if something unwanted comes between while chewing
so what i would suggest that you immediately go for the crowing procedure before its too late
hope this helps

hi...
thanks for the query...
YES... crown is must after root canal treatment...
one reason is to strengthen the remaining portion of your tooth... because root canal treated tooth has no blood supply of its own... its kind of dead and has no strength...
another is to maintain your proper arch form and for aesthetic reasons also...
it will also bring your dead tooth back in proper function also... so go for it...

hi,
thanks for asking quiery,
it is necessary to place a crown after the root canal treatment is done, it is not creating any problem now , but after riit canal treatment the tooth becomes brittle and chances of fracture increases as the tooth cannot withstand the masticatory forces . you can check your dentist regarding crown placement
regards.
