Have Diabetes, High Cholesterol, High Blood Pressure. Taking Tenormin. Can Cardace Be Taken Instead?

Hi,I would like to know that i am diabetic and have high cholesterol as well,,,occasionally i get my blood pressure little high around 150/90 and for that i take tenormin 25mg when needed. Please guide me if i can start cardace 5mg (when needed)instead of tenormin. i am already taking diamicron MR 60mg, ROvista 5mg,Glucophage 500mg TDS and Ascard 75mg.

Your desire to take an anti hypertensive is understandable. The blood pressure in any one with diabetes should be less than or equal to 130/80.
It has been shown that higher readings would significantly increase the risk of kidney disease.

Blood pressures below this value are thought to reduce the chance of developing any complications related to the disease.

Cardace is in the family of drugs called ACE inhibitors. This family of medication is particularly recommended for diabetics because in addition to reducing your blood pressure, they will protect the kidney from damage.

This means that it would be a very good addition to your medication regimen.
