Have Delay In Periods Along With Abdominal Pain. Have Spotting Also. Can This Be Pregnancy?

Hi, I had pregnancy symptoms followed by a missed period accompanied by left side abdominal pain like severe ovulation pain, but on left side-I never ovulate that side, plius it started the day my period was due. the pain lasted two days. Five days after missed period I started spotting and felt different- less pregnancy symptoms. Had blood pregnancy test, it was negative, but now I am on day 36 of my next cycle and I have had really bad pms symptoms especially tension and hunger, but there is only very light, brown spotting, and I only see it when I put toilet paper inside to check for it. My boobs have milk when squeezed, which had dried up after my son stopped feeding, and feel heavy, and look darker. Before I started spotting the first cycle my symptoms were: frequent urination, hot flushes, bloating, welling up with tears at every little thing, extreme fatigue-needing naps and early nights, heightened sense of smell. I have the copper coil, but I have experienced an early miscarriage with it before. I didn't know I was pregnant but started bleeding nine days prior to my period and had body aches and temperature like the flu but no other flu symptoms. That was five years ago, but my point is you can get pregnant on the coil. I think I may have miscarried a fertilized egg last month that had not quite implanted yet, so wouldn't be detected by a test. I have read up on anovulation and it doesn't fit with the pregnancy symptoms that started one week before I knew anything was wrong with my cycle. I don't want any more kids- hence the coil. So its not psychological. Please help.

Hi,
In the present scenario, it would be ideal to go for a trans-vaginal sonogram coupled with repeat serum beta-hCG titres and contact your consultant. You should exclude a chemical pregnancy as well as an ectopic apart from the usual side effects of the IUD. If pregnancy can be excluded, you may think of other pelvic causes like infections. Hope your query is answered. Take care.
