Have Cuts And Bruises, Swelling, Tightness In Thigh. What Can Help?

hello,

i recently had an accident on my bike. i sustained numerous cuts, bruises, etc. however, my thigh is starting to concern me. i initially thought i had just landed on my bike or something, but the swelling is still present after almost a week and seems to have spread to my knee? i currently can't walk properly due to the tightness in my thigh and knee. Also, i can feel a bump on my thigh, but no visual bruising can be seen.

thanks in advance.

Hi--it's possible that this is a hematoma--a blood collection--in the muscle, but I'm concerned that this may be a deep venous thrombosus--a clot in a leg vein. That can lead to a pulmonary embolus that can be life-threatening so I'd advise you to see a doctor now for an evaluation and Doppler flow studies of the leg to look for a DVT
