Have Contractions After Emptying Bladder. What Is Wrong?

i am having what feels like contractions (not pregnant). I don t know how to explain where it is except to say it is near where my urine comes out. Female - 43 years old. i just emptied my bladder and the contractions/pains are still coming. This just started about 10 minutes ago. Very weird. Thought maybe I could find some answers online.

Hello and welcome to HCM.

Thank you for your query.

Although your description is quite incomplete and we will have to look for more symptoms to draw a clinical conclusion, your condition could be as a result of either an infection of the urinary tract causing inflammation of the urinary bladder (which could be causing the contractions) or pressure from surrounding structures (due to abnormalities present in them); these could be the uterus, the intestines, etc.

In my opinion if you experience any of the following symptoms in addition to your current presentation, you could consult a doctor and go about a urine analysis. The symptoms are:
-Frequent urination
-Increased urge to urinate (but less amount of urine)
-Burning sensation while or after urination
-Itching around genitals (will require physical examination by a doctor)
-Lower abdominal or flank pain
-Weakness or lethargy

In the meantime, please consume plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated.

I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications. I would gladly help you.

Best wishes.
